Top gyms in Witney

Welcome! Tinatrains here, I have trained, had memberships and have worked at multiple gyms in Witney. I will be going through all the available gyms in Witney and my honest, unbiased opinion on all of them.

Starting with the locals first!

Pirate Fitness ££

- Great range of classes, including Les Mills classes for a very affordable price.

- Outdated gym equipment but a decent range of equipment, defiantly has the basics.

- Super friendly atmosphere, great for beginners and your average gym goer.

- Cheapest gym in Witney after Puregym

This is a charity gym, their motto is they want to encourage everyone who lives in Witney to get into fitness. They provide free Sunday's gym sessions for ANYONE so non-members can come in and use the gym! The atmosphere is a very friendly gym with just your average gym goers! You don't many if any body builders here, this is defiantly a great gym to start out with or if you are into your fitness but just isn't your job to have a top level physique. They provide a great range of classes which is what I think they specialise in best. The gym itself is very outdated equipment for my liking but if you like that old school bodybuilder gym equipment vibe you have found the right gym for you! £39.99 a month for a single membership here, they do provide some great range of memberships, teen, students, day crew, corporate, bluelight, dual etc.

Their classes are like I said their best feature, if you are interested in classes then you have found yourself the most affordable and best extensive gym for that! There are only two gyms in Witney that provide Les Mills, the other gym fees is almost DOUBLE in price. They also provide class passes for £6 for 30 minute classes or £7.50 for their 45 minute-1 hour classes. Or bulk buy for £65 for 10 classes.

Witney Weights and Fitness ££

- Greatly impressive extensive range of top level equipment

- Bodybuilder watering pool (aka all body builders in the surrounding area goes to this gym)

- Not the greatest for class enthusiasts.

- Great opening times.

This gym has some of the best equipment in the area with arguably only one competitor near them, in Carterton (Heroez gym). However, they have a great range of equipment for both weights and cardio. I am honestly impressed with the amount of equipment they provide and the majority of them are very new (possibly not even 5 years old yet!) additionally, they are very well maintained. This is very much a gym all local body builders like to go to, it is still a very friendly atmosphere at this gym. If a beginner those who work there are more than happy to help. There is a great selection of personal trainers here with a great variety of types of trainers.

They also provide a great range of memberships, their single monthly is £50 a month. Personally I use gyms over classes I would pay the extra £10 for this gym over Pirates gym purely based on gym equipment. Again they provide bluelight, student, off peak, weekends only etc.

Witney Lakes Resort £££

If you want both luxury and training and dont mind spending money, you have found the right place! Witney Lakes is beautiful, has a golf course, driving range with great technology, a lovely well kept swimming pool and great technogym equipment. They also provide spa treatments here. This is the most expensive gym facilities in Witney at around £70+ a month for a single membership. I have not been to this gym much and only really on spa days. So I cannot comment too much. I have had online coaching clients there who love it there, classes are good and they do provide Les Mills, the only Witney gym asides Pirates to provide this.

Onto chain gyms:

I do highly recommend supporting the local gyms over the chain gyms.

Windrush Leisure Centre ££

- Swimming pool

- Recent refurbishment (3-4 years ago)

They had a recent refurb of the gym in the last past few years, great variety of equipment. They are also one of the two gyms in Witney to have a pool and this one is the cheaper one. However, I have been told the pool and changing rooms are not the cleanest. They have a lovely café over looking the pool and a great sports hall for badminton and much more. They also provide classes here which I personally haven't taken part in. For the Windrush Leisure Club it is £45 a month.

Puregym £

- Super affordable, cheapest gym in Witney

- Super busy during peak times

- Annoying trying to get past the que for Mcdonalds to get to the car park.

As much as I like to support the local gyms, I am very happy to see puregym in Witney. It is the cheapest gym in the area and is popular for that reason. I am glad to see a more affordable gym option being available as this means there is better access for those who may not afford the other gyms. The only problem with this is how busy it can get, especially at peak times be ready for battle. They have decent equipment here, with a good range. They also have their own branded classes here as well. This gym is £25.99 for gym only or £32.99 with classes included.
